What will stripping do to my haircolour?

I ve always been brunette. Now that I get grays I use a brownish reddish colour. I want to change to a light brown, but my hair won't change colour. IIf i strip it will my hair turn white or clear? If my dye washes out what will my hair colour look like once it's been stripped.
